MyWhere to Find Your Ancient Origins Results
If you already have DNA results with a provider that offers ancient-population comparisons, the results usually live in a dedicated section of your DNA dashboard rather than mixed into your standard ethnicity page. Here's the general path and what each part of the report typically shows.
1. Log in and go to your DNA dashboard
Start from your account's main DNA section (not the general family-tree or records area). This is usually where your ethnicity estimate, DNA matches, and any premium ancestry add-ons are listed together.
2. Look for the ancient-origins or "ancient" tab specifically
Because ancient-population comparison is typically a premium, separate feature from the standard ethnicity estimate, it's usually labeled distinctly — look for a tab or card explicitly mentioning "Ancient Origins" or "ancient" ancestry rather than assuming it's folded into the default ethnicity breakdown.
3. Check subscription status if it's not visible
If you don't see an ancient-origins option at all, the most common reason is subscription tier — this kind of feature is usually gated behind a premium plan rather than included with a free account or a one-time DNA kit purchase. 4. Reading the results page
Once you're on the ancient-origins results page, you'll typically find a few standard sections:
- A percentage breakdown of ancient population groups your DNA statistically resembles.
- Named historical/archaeological groups (e.g., specific time periods and regions) rather than modern country names — see what a match to Bronze Age steppe ancestry or Viking-era Scandinavian ancestry actually means.
- Supporting context — often a short explanation of each ancient population and the archaeological samples behind it.

If you don't have results yet

Troubleshooting: results not showing up
If you've confirmed your subscription tier includes the feature and you still don't see an ancient-origins panel, a few things are worth checking before contacting support:
- Processing delay. If you just uploaded raw DNA data or completed a new kit, allow some time for initial processing to finish before the ancient-origins comparison becomes available.
- Browser cache. Account and subscription changes sometimes take a page refresh or a fresh login to reflect in the dashboard.
- Data quality flags. Occasionally a raw DNA file uploaded from another provider doesn't meet the minimum marker overlap needed for a reliable ancient-population comparison — check for any data-quality notice on your DNA results page.
- Regional availability. Some premium features roll out region by region before becoming globally available — this is less common but worth ruling out if everything else checks out.
